Chilaquiles @ Kitsch'n Chicago

Restaurant: Kitsch'n Chicago
Type: Kitsch'n Chilaquiles
Price: $8.99
Ingredients: A spicy mix of eggs, fried tortillas, smokey chipotle salsa and pepper-jack cheese; served with apple-wood smoked bacon and Texas toast.
Rating: 9

Brief Description: On a recent trip to Chicago our host invited us to sample breakfast nachos. Our response: "Breakfast nachos! Is there such a thing?" And that is how Yummy Nachos discovered the wonderful world of Chilaquiles, a beautiful merger of nachos and eggs. Why this dish is not more common in NYC is beyond us, but now we are on the hunt down. We sampled an assortment of Chilaquiles in the Windy City and many of them tried too hard to be an egg-centric dish. Kitsch'n Chicago gets it right by making their chilaquiles more nacho-y. If there is any drawback, its that the chipotle salsa does not do much to add to the dish. It'd be great if you had the option of other toppings, such as a salsa cruda or a salsa verde.

Nachos at Big City

Brief Review: Super awesome nachos! Fresh lettuce, huge portion size, great flavors, if you like BBQ nachos. The BBQ sauce added a great flavor throughout. Lots of cheese and sour cream. Nachos could have used a bit more chicken and little topping was left at the end. Starting to think New England really knows their nachos!!!!!!!!!

1.3.2009: Nachos at Siamsa Irish Pub

Rating: 9

Brief Review: Awesome vegetarian nachos! Lots of topping with all the right ingredients and enough spillover to scoop up with those naked chips. The generous heaping of homemade chipotle sour cream add a delicious flavor. The only negatives were the outta-the-bag chips and the average portion size.

3.8.2008 Nachos at Southern Hospitality

Restaurant: Southern Hospitality
Location: 1460 2nd Avenue (Between 76 & 77th Streets), NYC
Type: BBQ Nachos (with pulled chicken)
Ingredients: Tortilla chips topped with BBQ beans, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce,
jalapeƱos, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo
Cost: $9.95 + 4.95 for chicken
Rating: 9

Brief Review: This were excellent nachos, if you don't mind BBQ sauce on nachos. The BBQ beans and sauce added a sweetness to the nachos. The cheese actually tasted like cheddar cheese, not waxy or greasy. The pulled chicken while an expensive topping ($4.95) was plentiful and tasty. The only negative is the theme restaurant ambiance, i.e., kids and tourists.
