Nachos @ Irish Times

Where: Irish Times, NYC
Our take: Sometimes Irish pubs get nachos right and sometimes they are just ok. Good place to go before a Knick game for stadium-like nachos.

Nachos @ The US Open

So, so nachos at the open. Not much different from last year. Round chips, cheese sauce, canned olives, and generous helping of sour cream. Chips were soggy 1/2 way through.

Giving them a 4. Definitely stadium nachos. Good for your nacho fix!

Nachos @ Castaways North Avenue Beach Bar and Grill

Restaurant: Castaways North Avenue Beach Bar and Grill
Type: Nacho's Nachos
Price: $7.95
Ingredients: Piled high with spicy ground beef, cheese, refried beans, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, black olives; served with sour cream and salsa on the side.
Rating: 3

Brief Description: On the menu Nacho's Nachos at Castaways sound super yummy, but on the table they're a different mess altogether. Piled high? Nope. Instead the chips are spread flat across the plate making them appear larger than what they really are. Cheese? Well if you consider cheese-flavored goo to be cheese, well then I guess it is cheese. The toppings? Well the only redeeming quality these nachos have is the nice mixture of chili and refried beans, which made them worth finishing. In the end, however, these sloppy stadium nachos are probably not worth your time.

Nachos at the US Open

Restaurant: Fresca Mexicana
Location: USTA Tennis Center, Queens
Type: Ultimate Nachos
Ingredients: Tortilla chips, beans, chicken, jalapeƱos, cheese whiz, sour cream and salsa.

Cost: $10
Rating: 3

Brief Review: Nachos were cold. Standard condiment stand cheese (cheese whiz). Boring outta-the-bag round chips. Salsa and beans served on the side. The chicken was pretty decent, but don't bother these nachos. Go for the lobster roll at the US Open.

2.15.2008 Nachos at Broome Street Bar

Restaurant: Broome Street Bar
Location: 363 West Broadway (corner of Broome Street), NYC

Type: Super Nachos
Ingredients: Corn chips, melted cheddar cheese, jalapeƱos, salsa, sour cream, onion, and tomato
Price: $6.50
Rating: 5

Brief Review: They had no right to call these nachos Super Nachos. There was really nothing super about them. These are comparable to stadium nachos or glorified chips and salsa. However, sans the onions they still tasted pretty good. =)
