Where: Irish Times, NYC Our take: Sometimes Irish pubs get nachos right and sometimes they are just ok. Good place to go before a Knick game for stadium-like nachos.
Restaurant: Catina La Fiesta
Type: Cheese nachos with chicken
Rating: 3
Brief Description: Ok chos for Japan. Homemade chips and plenty of cheese and toppings. There were few naked chips! Portion size was on the small side and the cheese was an odd mixture of American cheese sauce and and cheddar.
Ingredients: Piled high with spicy ground beef, cheese, refried beans, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, black olives; served with sour cream and salsa on the side.
Rating: 3
Brief Description: On the menu Nacho's Nachos at Castaways sound super yummy, but on the table they're a different mess altogether. Piled high? Nope. Instead the chips are spread flat across the plate making them appear larger than what they really are. Cheese? Well if you consider cheese-flavored goo to be cheese, well then I guess it is cheese. The toppings? Well the only redeeming quality these nachos have is the nice mixture of chili and refried beans, which made them worth finishing. In the end, however, these sloppy stadium nachos are probably not worth your time.
Restaurant: Tortilla Flats Location: 767 Washington Street Type: Nachos Ingredients: Corn tortilla pieces smothered with beans, cheddar and jalapenos Cost: $7.95 (with chicken) Rating: 3
Brief Review: Tortilla Flats is a fun, fun place. They got hula hoop contests, bingo contests, and awesome singles events. What they don't have is tasty nachos? Tortilla Flats, if you're reading this, please work to make your nachos as awesome as the rest of your restaurant. No more pizza nachos!
Restaurant: Mr. Lucky's Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Type: Fire Roasted Nachos Ingredients: Tortilla chips with melted jack, salsa, and guacamole Cost: TBA Rating: 3
Description: Chips not very tasty. Outta a bag!!!!! The bottom of the dish was covered in movie-nacho cheese sauce! Soggy motherchip!
Brief Review: Nachos were cold. Standard condiment stand cheese (cheese whiz). Boring outta-the-bag round chips. Salsa and beans served on the side. The chicken was pretty decent, but don't bother these nachos. Go for the lobster roll at the US Open.
Restaurant: El Charro Espanol Location: 4 Charles Street, NYC Type: Nachos Ingredients: Corn tortilla topped jack cheese and diced jalapeƱos.
Cost: $7.95 Rating: 3
Brief Review: Pizza nachos again!!! One deep fried corn tortilla covered with melted jack cheese. These could've been worse for pizza nachos. At least the ingredients were evenly balanced.
