Nachos @ Phebes
Restaurant: Phebes
Location: E 4th St, New York, United States
Type: Fiesta Nachos
Price: $9.95
Ingredients: Jack and cheddar cheese, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, onions, and chicken. Topped with sour cream, guac, and salsa.
Rating: 8
Brief Description: Delicious nachos. Tons of cheese and topping. All toppings were on top, rather than as sides. Few naked chips, great portion size, and did we mention super cheesy?? We wish the chips were homemade, but at least they were tasty. The chicken was a little dry -- try it without, but don't skip on these chos, Phebes certainly didn't!
Nachos at Marfa Restaurant and Bar
Restaurant: Marfa Restaurant and Bar
Location: 101 East 2nd Street, NY NY 10009
Ingredients: Nachos with cheese, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream
Price: $7
Rating: 8
Description: Thanks VM for recommending the pork nachos from Marfa in the LES. Highly recommend it with notes of nutmeg and delicious cheeses. I'd give it a solid 8. Not to mention the ambiance--various sequined drag queens from Lucky Chengs (sharing the same building) floating through for cocktails. It's a hoot.
Nachos at Margaritaville
Restaurant: Margaritaville
Location: Cancun, Mexico
Type: Volcano Nachos
Price: $ 170 pesos + $53 pesos for Chicken
Ingredients: Topped with chili beans, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, tomatoes, cheese sauce, and shredded cheese.
Description: A ton of nachos. Full of everything you want and lasts forever. Plenty of homemade chips and delicious topping these chos make it to the end. While these chos cheesed it up throughout, major trickers. They used real cheese on top and cheese sauce in the bottom. Keeps you going till the last chip which is something we can't say about half the chos we've tasted.
Nachos at Aqua Grill
Restaurant: Aqua Grill
Location: Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Type: Build your own
Ingredients: Chilli beans, crema agria, guacamole, salsa mexicana, lechuga y jalapeno frecso.
Cost: 96.00 pesos
Rating: 8
Description: Delicious homemade chips. Spoke with the waiter and he gave us the skinny on these chos. They buy the corn tortillas in downtown Playa del Carmen and fry them up at Aqua Grill. The cheese is mozzerella and the plate is first layered with refried beans then chips, cheese, more beans, japapenos, chips, cheese, beans, jalapenos....you get the picture. They layer their chos in Mexico. Wish others could take a tip from the nacho homeland. Yummy all around. Great toppings, no nakeds, and lots of cheese. Less bean would make them even tastier!

Nachos at The Bank
Restaurant: The Bank
Location: Temecula, CA
Type: Nachos Supreme Crab
Ingredients: Homemade chips, cheese, black olives, crab meat, guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
Cost: $11.95
Rating: 8
Description: They definitely do nachos right in California, and The Bank is no exception. These chips have loads of cheese and toppings, such as the black olives, which added an extra layer of yumminess. The only complaint was that the chips were just so-so. Also a page from the "never-saw-that-before" book, The Bank placed the guacamole and sour cream on top of nachos in nacho chip made ramequins. It's a great idea and it makes for an automatic motherchip!

Nachos at El Cholo (Sonara Style Nachos)
Restaurant: El Cholo
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Type: Sonora Style Nachos
Ingredients: Frijoles, simmered tomato sauce, sour cream and guacamole.
Cost: 8.75
Rating: 8
Description: I'm not sure who came up with the Sonara Style Nachos, but they definitely took a page from Carmen's playbook. There's really not too much of a difference, except that they add the traditional nacho sides, i.e., tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. If you want to experience old school nachos at their best, go for Carmen's original. If you're jonesing for some good modern style nachos, go for the Sonara style.

Other options included beef and pork. Chips were a little thin and couldn't hold the enormous layers of cheese and guac! If you're in Phoenix Macayos is a definite go to for chos.

Nachos at La Superica

Restaurant: La Superica
Location: 1 Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY
Type: Nachos
Menu Description: Nachos with beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and jalapeños.
Cost: $10.85
Rating: 8
Brief Review: Chips were basic, nothing special. Excellent presentation with tons of melted cheese (muenster!!!!) with a layer underneath! Chips, black olives, jalapeños, guacamole and diced tomato were piled high. What keeps this from a 9 or 10 is the chips not being very special. Easily enough for two.

Second Review: Great nachos. The cheese was excellent. The portion could have been a little more generous. Had to ask for salsa, which came on the side. Still an earns an 8 without a doubt!
Nachos at the Carpenters Arms

Restaurant: Carpenters Arms
Location: 60-70 Whitfield St. London, UK
Type: Nachos (share)
Ingredients: Vintage cheddar, salsa, sour cream, and jalapeños, and deep fried flour tortillas
Cost: £8
Rating: 8
Brief Review: Crispy fried flour tortilla chips! Amazing. Plentiful toppings. Flavorful and a great portion size. The salsa was thick not watery. While these nachos could almost be categorized as chips and salsa nachos, the chips and balance of toppings put this nacho plate (or two) in a league of its own – “British Nachos”! You can also order these with chili.
5.06.2009: Nachos at Central Bar

Restaurant: Central Bar
Location: 109 East 9th Street, NYC
Type: Central Bar Nachos with Chicken
Ingredients: Corn tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole, jalapeños, beans, sour cream, scallions, cheddar cheese, and chicken.
Cost: $10
Rating: 8
Brief Review: Avoid the off-the-menu version of Central Bar's nachos (see left pic). Instead, ask for the customized nachos and you'll get some super yummy nachos (see right pic). The customized nachos were piled high with the works and a generous helping of chicken. The portion size was ridiculous!
9.7.08: Nachos at Bethlehem BrewWorks

Restaurant: Bethlehem BrewWorks
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Type: Loaded Nachos --The Biggest in the Valley!
Ingredients: A ½ pound of warm crisp tortilla chips topped with ¾ pound of shredded cheddar & jack cheese, red onions, black olives, green peppers, diced tomatoes, chicken, and jalapeño peppers. Served with sour cream and salsa.
Cost: $14.50
Rating: 8
Brief Review: Delicious nachos. All the flavors were fantastic. The chips were homemade and the the portion size was huge! These nachos would surely be a 9 if the guacamole, sour cream and salsa were served on top of the nachos, rather than on the side. The toppings didn't stick well to the nachos.
3.1.2008 Nachos at Taqueria Jalapeños

Brief Review: Cheap and plentiful layers of toppings with plenty of crisp chips
underneath. Lots of bright and diverse flavors from the salsa and guacamole combines with the incredible shredded pork. Many meat toppings available from the mundane beef and chicken to the exotic tongue, and beef head make this a great nacho for any palette stranded in Fort Myers, Florida.

2.15.2008 Nachos at Quantum Leap
Restaurant: Quantum LeapLocation: 226 Thompson Street, NYC
Type: Blue Corn Nachos (Vegetarian)
Ingredients: Corn chips, melted cheddar cheese, jalapeños, tofu chilie, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, and red onion.
Price: $8.95
Rating: 8
Brief Review: These are best nachos I've had in February! The veggie chilie had a nice smoky sausage taste. The integration of ingredients was perfect. The portion size was a little too small for two to share. The big negative was that Quantum Leap doesn't serve beer, the beverage of choice to accompany any nacho tasting.

Second Review: Wow! The portion size improved from my last review! More sour cream and guacamole. These nachos were even yummier the second time around!
1.19.2008 Nachos at Cilantro

Type: Aztec Nachos
Ingredients: Jack & cheddar cheese, beans, jalapeños, guacamole and sour cream

Brief Review: Very cheesy and sloppy. Nice tangy aftertaste. Chips were perfectly soggy. At the end more topping than chip. It's difficult to find nachos this tasty!
